The Botanical Garden of Eala

The Botanic Garden of Eala was founded in 1900 and is located in Mbandaka. Projet Équateur has partnered with the garden to develop agroforestry plots, build administrative and technical capacity, facilitate student research projects, and coordinate annual community activities for World Environment Day. They are also working to set up carbon plots that will give staff and students the opportunity to learn how to measure above ground biomass quantities in the different ecosystems of Équateur, which are all represented within the vast gardens.

Higher Institute of Rural Development, Mbandaka (ISDR-MBK)

The Higher Institute of Rural Development (ISDR) is a higher education institute in Mbandaka which focuses on educating students to be able to work successfully as rural development workers. Projet Équateur works with ISDR to provide training and opportunities for research endeavors and collaborates with staff and students to organize educational community events for World Environment Day. Currently, Projet Équateur is working to help students and teachers gain access to more up to date information through the creation of a virtual library on campus.
